The design aspect of Darlington Designs is the heart and soul of the business.  It is what makes us different.  Our accredited Design Team is creative, imaginative, knowledgeable, and overall, very talented.  Consistently we receive feedback of exceeding the expectations of our clients.  Our job as Designers is to show you, the client, all the hidden potential in your home based on our vast experience and ideas, while always focusing on your budget and goals.   A good Design Process performs several functions:

  1. It provides a forum by which the designer can present his/her vision for a clients home.
  2. It addresses all of the necessary considerations to the project, before breaking ground, which might otherwise be overlooked.
  3. It creates the back and forth dialogue necessary in refining a project to meet all of the goals, needs, and wants of the client.
  4. From an installation view, it provides an otherwise un-attainable level of accuracy and detail, allowing the installation to meet the expectations of its design.  In addition, a design speeds up the overall construction process as it simplifies an otherwise arduous task.
  5. It permits, with a high level of accuracy; an installation cost and timeframe to be created that should not deviate during the construction process, allowing a client to achieve their goals on budget and on time.
  6. It allows for future considerations or phasing of a project over a period of time without adding wasteful costs.
  7. It provides superior clarity when contracting the project so that our clients have a clear understanding of what they are getting and the scope of work is clear and concise.

There are two types of Designs we perform at Darlington Designs.  The first is a Conceptual Design; a preliminary design showing ideas and concepts for use areas, structures, traffic patterns, general layout, etc.  They are inexpensive and they allow the Designer to convey an idea, as well as touch on rough budgetary costs to help direct the next step of revising or finalizing the plan.  The second type is what we call a Final Design which provides a highly detailed plan for use in presenting the final vision and contracting for the work. It often includes a complete plant schedule, construction details, color rendering, and may be comprised of several layers or sheets including Lighting Plans, Dimensional Layout Plans, Sprinkler System Plans, Wood Construction Plans, etc.
